Educational Innovation & Transformation Committee

Mission

Supports Georgetown’s leadership in educational innovation to ensure we are equipping students for a lifetime of success, with equitable experience for all students. Mandate includes supporting the Red House and Baker Trust for Transformational Learning, which partners with all of the schools at Georgetown, to promote mission-driven innovation for the whole person, the common good and a human future. As the nature of educational R&D activity is far-reaching and diverse, the work also supports and partners with other Regents Committees.

Specifically, the EIT Committee will focus on the development and execution of an educational vision and strategy for the Main Campus, with an agenda shaped by these core themes:

  • Embracing the “equity agenda” as part of institutional innovation and transformation.
  • Increased opportunities for students to engage in cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches to complex challenges.
  • Expanded opportunities for socially-engaged learning in the curriculum and co-curriculum.
  • New approaches to helping students develop emerging abilities and capacities that may not have been the emphasis of traditional academic learning but are increasingly important, such as intergroup dialogue, cultural agility, conflict resolution, operating in conditions of uncertainty, as well as increasingly widespread infusion of design-focused approaches to inquiry and problem-solving, and the increased appreciation for an entrepreneurial mindset across the curriculum.
  • Innovative responses to the challenges to student well-being, including curricular and co-curricular opportunities to focus on flourishing, mindfulness, and the integration of wellness into identity, professional development, career education, and a lifelong sense of purpose.
